What to know before buying Bitcoin Cash
Bitcoin Cash lists on Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, and most US retail brokers, with deeper order books on Binance and OKX offshore. The quote currency matters: on Coinbase you will see BCH-USD and BCH-USDT, and the spread between those two pairs can differ by more than a typical maker fee during quiet hours. Check both before routing a larger order.
The recurring loss pattern with BCH is the address format split. BCH wallets default to CashAddr (prefixed bitcoincash:) while some older exchanges and block explorers still accept legacy addresses that look identical to a Bitcoin P2PKH address, starting with a 1 or 3. Pasting a BCH CashAddr into a BTC withdrawal field, or sending BCH to a BTC receive address on an exchange that does not auto-detect the coin, is the failure mode people hit most often.
